Dear
You are
aware that the Work on Metro Rail for Delhi is progressing rapidly. One of the Railway Stations is to be located
at the Ashoka Road and Parliament Street Crossing, in front of Sanchar Bhavan
on Ashoka Road. It is being sited at 25
Ashoka Road. You may also aware of the
fact that the Office of the Centenary Celebrations of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb
Dr BR Ambedkar functioned from this place during the Years 1990 to 1993, and Dr
Ambedkar Foundation and Dr Ambedkar Study Circle was located here till
recently. I am surprised that such an
important place associated with an historic Statesman of the Country was
demolished just to build the PARLIAMENT STREET RAILWAY STATION. It could have been sited elsewhere, or even
avoided, particularly when two other Stations are reportedly coming up on
either side, just a stone throw away, at Connaught Place and at Boat Club.
In view of
the above, it would be more appropriate, if the Railway Station at 25 Ashoka
Road is named appropriately after Baba Saheb Dr Ambedkar. May be it could be named as BABA SAHEB DR AMBEDKAR CENTRE RAILWAY
STATION, or as BABA SAHEB DR
AMBEDKAR CENTRE PARLIAMENT STREET RAILWAY STATION.
I hope you
would take necessary action to appropriately name the Railway Station at 25
Ashoka Road.
With regards,
Yours truly,
( Buta Singh )
